Nautical Flagpole: Why use fiberglass flagpoles

The fact is fiberglass flagpoles are found to be solid, durable and versatile. These types are not known to conduct electricity. Hence, lightning is never a concern, since it is with only aluminum. Moreover, fiberglass based Nautical Flagpole never corrodes and can be used in rugged weather conditions or near saltwater. Unlike aluminum that can pit or discolor or wood that rots with time, the fiberglass types do come with tough glossy gel coat finishing to withstand scratching and soiling. The height of fiberglass Nautical Flagpole can be around 80’. The fiberglass types can also be used for commercial and residential purposes. However, it can be found in just single white color. But there are offered customized color options by few providers. Coating needs to be weatherproof coating as paint will have tough time to adhere to fiberglass. Painting will be required after every few years, to keep it as good as new.

Fiberglass and Flagpole Eagles similar to aluminum types may be found with internal or external halyard system. It is the pulley and rope rigging that is used for raising flag down and up. Although external halyards are considered to be inexpensive, the internal types will not face any kind of vandalism, since its moving parts are generally located within the pole, accessible only through a special handle or winch.

Similar to other materials, the fiber glass types which are in ground are to be rooted firmly in ground sleeve and concrete foundation. However, none of concrete is to touch actual pole as fiber glass may be corroded due to concrete.
